Goes beyond just feeding the world; nourishing societies, economies, and the environment in a way that ensures a prosperous future for generations to come.

We hope through this event, collectively, we will create a critical disruption in food innovations and power up the supply chain by discovering the changing consumer trends and the waves to reshaping the agri-food sector, while being the catalyst of the change, too.

🌍 World Food Day 2025: A Milestone in Our Shared Responsibility

World Food Day calls attention to one of humanity’s oldest and most vital responsibilities—how we grow, share, and sustain the food that nourishes us. Observed in more than 150 countries and nearly 50 languages, it is one of the most widely recognized international days on the United Nations calendar.

For the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), World Food Day is a powerful moment to reconnect—with its partners, with people around the world, and with its founding mission: To build more efficient, more inclusive, more resilient, and more sustainable agrifood systems for all.

🎉 80 Years of FAO: A Global Commemoration

This year’s campaign carries special significance. In 2025, FAO marks its 80th anniversary—a milestone that highlights decades of global commitment to food security and agricultural development.

  • On 16 October, a global ceremony will be held at FAO Headquarters in Rome during the World Food Forum (WFF).

  • On the same day, the new Food and Agriculture Museum and Network will open—offering a space to explore the knowledge, cultures, and innovations that shape how we grow and value food.

  • On 17 October, Junior World Food Day will gather young minds as part of the WFF School Assembly—creating an interactive platform for youth to learn, imagine, and lead.

🤝 2025 Campaign Theme: Hand in Hand for Better Foods and a Better Future

Chosen by FAO Director-General QU Dongyu, this year’s theme reflects the urgency and power of collective action.
Agrifood systems cannot change in isolation—progress depends on what we achieve together: Across institutions, borders, and communities.
Throughout October, hundreds of events around the world—including FFF2025 in Malaysia—will amplify this message. Each one will be a reminder that food is not just a resource—it is a foundation for peace, dignity, and a future shared more equally. Access to food is a basic human right.

🌾 A Call to Transform: The State of Agrifood Systems

Today’s agrifood systems are under immense pressure:

  • Conflicts, climate extremes, economic shocks, and inequality are disrupting farms, fields, markets, and households globally.

  • 733 million people still live with hunger, while in other regions, obesity and food waste reveal deep systemic imbalances.

  • Agrifood systems are also major contributors to greenhouse gas emissions—yet they hold untapped potential to reduce those emissions through more sustainable practices.

🔍 Everyone Has a Role to Play

Addressing these challenges and achieving food security for all will require:

  • Greater and more targeted investment

  • Bold innovation and inclusive research

  • Cross-sector collaboration—from governments and international agencies to farmers, businesses, researchers, and youth

As FAO turns 80, the organization reaffirms its commitment to working alongside its members and partners to build lasting, practical solutions.

And consumers, too, have a role:

  • Choosing healthier diets

  • Reducing food waste

  • Protecting soils, water, and biodiversity

  • Speaking up for those in need

  • Engaging with decision-makers

“The actions we take today will directly impact the future. We must produce more with less. Let’s work towards a future that is more inclusive and more equitable.”

FAO Director-General QU Dongyu, World Food Forum 2024
